At what age are you considered an adult?

In most states, a 10-year old charged with murder can be tried as an adult.

In 10 states, a single 20 year old cannot legally have sexual relationships with a 17-year old.

Nearly in every state, a 16 year can marry (only with parents permission)

18 is the age of adulthood, 21 is the legal age for consuming alcohol.

135 university presidents are considering to lower the drinking age from 21.

One might assume that most 18 years olds have reached maturity, researchers have shown that adolescence actually extends into the early 20s

Practically from puberty, young people are bombarded with mixed signals about the scope of their rights and the depth of responsibilities.

Being a legal adult does not mean their children posses certain adult characteristics.

Generally 18 is the age when the United States, and the rest of the world consideres young people capable of accepting responsibilities for their actions.

18 is the age you are considered an adult, and can legally work, participate in contracts, vote, get married, give sexual consent, join the military, drink, have abortion, drive, watch R-rated movies, and be responsible for your own finances.
